Born from a passion for craft, Lineage was started in 2015 by Paul Hansbarger and is based in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Lineage began with a simple request from his then pregnant wife for a diaper bag for their soon to be born daughter. Since then, more designs have come together, constantly refining and redesigning, while family and friends have asked for a bag of their own. The idea behind Lineage was to create simple, stylish, and durable, heirloom quality waxed canvas bags and accessories for utility and everyday use. Since the beginning it has been their intention to create useful, elegant products with the best materials possible, cut and sewn with their own hands, and ultimately, that could stand the rigors of everyday life and be passed on to the next generation.
Lineage bags and accessories are designed, cut, sewn, hammered, punched, and riveted one at a time from start to finish in the Harrisonburg, Virginia workshop using a variety of traditional hand tools and industrial sewing machines.
Lineage uses waxed cotton canvas and water repellent canvas from a family run fabric mill in New Jersey, and full grain, vegetable tanned leather sourced from several US tanneries. Both waxed canvas and vegetable tanned leather will take on unique character and patina, and will soften and darken over time with everyday use. This is all part of the story of your bag and where its been.
Their newest addition: candles! Handcrafted in small batches in Harrisonburg, VA. These all-natural soy wax candles are hand poured in a reuseable amber-colored low ball glasses with waxed kraft paper covers. They will quickly bring you to fond places in your memories with their wonderful scents.
